WBA 'regular' junior middleweight champion Erislandy Lara (19-1-2, 12KOs) is looking for some payback on July 12th at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. Lara faces Mexican superstar Saul "Canelo" Alvarez (43-1-1, 31KOs) in the main event of a Showtime Pay-Per-View card.

Lara, who is advised by Al Haymon, is apparently included in the group of boxers who are fighting under the Golden Boy Promotions banner but don't actually have a binding promotional contract with their company. [Click Here To Read More]

It was Richard Schaefer who would not give Lara the opportunity! Why is Schaefer getting a pass when he was the one running the day to day operations? Oscar is trying to do what's good for boxing & what's good for Golden Boy! Oscar did the right thing by letting Schaefer go! The guy sold his soul to Haymon & Mayweather!

No one cares bruh, you've been in the game for 7 years and no one knows who the **** you are. No one ever will, partly because you couldn't talk your way out of a bathroom, you have no mass appeal. You will always be Mr. Irrelevant because people quite simply, just don't give two f$cks about you.

even if lara was thinking this he shouldn't have come out and said it. (i actually like lara chances against canelo) but you better believe that all of his fans will now turn on him and scream for his demise lmao

That's your opinion and everyone is entitled to their own outlook on things but IMO I love it when these big time promoters take a lose with their hype job cash cows . Not saying canelo couldn't go on to be great but it was already structured for him to be a star before he earned it. Meanwhile more talented fighters take a backseat . I loved it when Rigo / schooled donaire . Same situation , different HNIC . Arum no better ,boxing would be better without them.

Lara is well overrated. Hardcore fans over rate him. He has no offence. He throws one twos all day. No body punching and a right hook here and there. He isnt that hard to hit either. Canelo will beat him. And stop him in 5 rounds. Unless canelo tries to be catious like the trout fight.
