Comments Thread For: Gary Russell Jr.-Vasyl Lomachenko: Post-Report Card

It looked like the speed of Gary Russell might be a problem for Vasyl Lomachenko.

That look lasted about ninety seconds.

That’s about how soon into the first round one could begin to see the former two-time Olympic Gold Medalist time the quicker man. In one of the better coin flip matches in some time, no one could be certain of what they were getting. As noted in the pre-fight report card, one guy hadn’t fought anybody and the other had only two fights.

Russell was proof of 2 many ezy/setup bouts, he was lost in there...Lisa Giampa's draw score was atrocious....she must b from the CJ Ross school of judging...WBO should look @ her closely as a judge, she is incompetent, judged by her score, she lacks concentration or what 2 look 4 in scoring...

GRJ will get better there is no doubt of that, and this was a great fight o I'm not sure why so much 'hate' has been thrown his way.

However, no mistake that it was a deserved victory for Lomachenko. It was a sickening feeling when those scores were getting read out - I honestly though he was going to get robbed.

Thank the lord sweet Jesus he didn't!

This fight is simply more proof that there are way to many alphabet belts floating around. And now what will ever fighter that does well in the amateurs be expecting to fight for a belt within his first few fights when he turns pro? Bad precedence is all it amounts to.

Only this ignorant writer would have the scores almost exactly the same when the euro guy outclasses the American. Lol what a joke . I bet he picked russell to win too.

Some see it as hate when Russell's limitations are brought up. I don't happen to think it's audacious to mention then. The guy will do well, but he'll never beat the elites in his division(s). Loma will. He's close to great now, and will just keep improving. I never thought for a second that Loma would lose this one. Can't wait for his next fight.

Despite the loss. Gary actually fought well. He isnt a scrub. I hope to see him in there with more name fighters. He was entertaining and fought hard.

Not sure if this was mentioned but apparently Giampa's husband works for Ring magazine. conflict of interest?
