and whoever says Margarito wasn't making it a fight or tagging Cotto, does this look like someone who wasn't getting hit?
Eye damage in boxing

So there are some messed up Doctors out there. Instead of letting the supposed glove wrap cheat get what he deserves, the doctors decide to save him, while the supposed new pretty boy of boxing who should be saved, gets his eye all f'ed up lol.

As Ferfist and Natas said I'll have to agree.
There were already questions about Maragritos eye. Pacquiao messed it up pretty good, Cotto picked up where Pacquiao left off.
Sure Algieris eye was bad but you also have to consider the differences in Tony and Algieris styles.Leave a comment:

Perhaps but still the prefight concerns over his eye were what the difference was between the algieri eye and AM eyeWhat and Tony wasn't making it a fight? Did you see Cotto's face? Did you see Tony have his best round of the fight? Did you see Cotto once again starting to fade? How was Tony not making it a fight.
Well if you don't agree, well we should feel sorry for Chris then because the Doctor's f'ed him over and allowed him to continue with that eye so who knows how his eye will hold up now vs someone else who manages to tag it as well (same goes for Robert from last night)
If Doctors say they want to protect fighters, then stop the fights instead of letting things get out of hand and give a protocol. Stopping one fight while not stopping others isn't rightLeave a comment:

it's actually nice for a change to be communicating with other green bars. Can actually have a conversation going. No one here is a dumb red bar (at least for now)Leave a comment:

There are no set rules which is why it'd be nice to have a protocol vs more subjective bias. Its called being "margarito'd." When your eye puffs itself closed because your defense is to block countless punches with your face. Unfortunately there are no set rules as when to stop a fight due to swelling. It is up to the ref, ring doctors, and a fighters corner to know when enough is enough. in hindsight its easy to say marg was coming back...
I'm not saying Tony was coming back because it is easy, just from watching and knowing Cotto's history, made me see that there was still a possibility
Like you said, it's up to the fighters, so Tony was still willing to continue due to that slim possibility, but instead he got that slim possibility robbed from him.Leave a comment:

What you're saying is fine, but the FACT that Tony answered everything the doctor asked, shows no reason to stop it (especially since the actual man is the one who's participating and willing)....
Going into the Margarito fight, they were already skating on thin ice. Had Margarito been severely injured questions would have been asked about why the fight was made in the first place and why they didn't, at the least, show an appropriate amount of caution.
It's apples and oranges to Algirie's situations, where there were no questions about his safety.
Seriously, it is just a case of common sense. Certain factors will rightfully influence when a referee stops the fight, an example would be experience: when one fighter is put up as cannon fodder, referees usually stop the fight at the first sign of danger.
( There's also a difference in what each fighters had to offer. Margarito was way behind in the fight. You speak as though he was coming on, but I remember watching the fight and at no point did I believe Cotto was in a position where he'd let the fight slip.)
Tony made it a fight and while he was down, he DID have his best round and Cotto has been shown to fade late in the rounds (rounds they were approaching). Would Cotto have let it slip, maybe not, but you can't say that there's no possibility that it couldn't have slipped as well, after seeing as how he had it in the first fight then let it slip.Leave a comment:

...understandable, yet why did they stop it when the fighter was still able to continue, on top of that, answer EVERY question he was given.
There'd be no question in stopping it had they been asking Tony questions and he was unable to answer them, but he was, so what was the problem?

vs

looking at those, how can one say one is in worse shape than the other (just looking at there it looks like Chris' is worse
