Its called being "margarito'd." When your eye puffs itself closed because your defense is to block countless punches with your face. Unfortunately there are no set rules as when to stop a fight due to swelling. It is up to the ref, ring doctors, and a fighters corner to know when enough is enough. in hindsight its easy to say marg was coming back...

There are no set rules which is why it'd be nice to have a protocol vs more subjective bias.

I'm not saying Tony was coming back because it is easy, just from watching and knowing Cotto's history, made me see that there was still a possibility

Like you said, it's up to the fighters, so Tony was still willing to continue due to that slim possibility, but instead he got that slim possibility robbed from him.

What and Tony wasn't making it a fight? Did you see Cotto's face? Did you see Tony have his best round of the fight? Did you see Cotto once again starting to fade? How was Tony not making it a fight.

Well if you don't agree, well we should feel sorry for Chris then because the Doctor's f'ed him over and allowed him to continue with that eye so who knows how his eye will hold up now vs someone else who manages to tag it as well (same goes for Robert from last night)

If Doctors say they want to protect fighters, then stop the fights instead of letting things get out of hand and give a protocol. Stopping one fight while not stopping others isn't right

There were already questions about Maragritos eye. Pacquiao messed it up pretty good, Cotto picked up where Pacquiao left off.

Sure Algieris eye was bad but you also have to consider the differences in Tony and Algieris styles.

So there are some messed up Doctors out there. Instead of letting the supposed glove wrap cheat get what he deserves, the doctors decide to save him, while the supposed new pretty boy of boxing who should be saved, gets his eye all f'ed up lol.

and whoever says Margarito wasn't making it a fight or tagging Cotto, does this look like someone who wasn't getting hit?
