Comments Thread For: Mora's Take on Golovkin-Geale, Cotto-Martinez, More

Sergio Mora knows what it feels like to be a world champion, he held the WBC light middleweight title in 2008 when he scored a win over the late, great Vernon Forrest. Naturally the Los Angeles native would like to repeat that feat, competing at middleweight. Two of the top four governing bodies’ belts have changed hands in recent weeks after Sam Soliman dethroned Felix Sturm for the IBF belt in Germany. In New York, Miguel Cotto became the WBC champion following a surprisingly easy win over Sergio Martínez.

Of course, Cotto's left hook on a lamed Sergio

Sergio's age, health, and mental conditioning (with his fake intimidations) was totally the factor in the outcome of his fight with Cotto. Duh? That's why the picked the fight with Sergio. Had Sergio of the past showed up, we would have seen another Algeri/Prov.

I've always liked Mora. His thoughts on HBO commentary are spot on. He's one of the few fighters at MW that has requested a fight with GGG but HBO rejected it.

How about Mora vs. Macklin? The winner gets a shot at a piece of the title.

He really put the HBO commentators on blast. Good for him for telling it like it is.

Yeah - although commentary is almost always slanted.

It's kinda shame that Mora was rejected as a GGG opponent tho - however understandable. Since the Vera losses he hasn't really been viewed as a top contender, but is slippery enough to make most opponents look bad. Personally I'd like to see how Golovkin dealt with a trickier style, but I can completely understand that K2 and HBO aren't gonna be overly enthused by such a fight unless Mora can find himself a strap from somewhere.

A fight I would like to see would be Mattvey Korobov (assuming he gets past Uzcategui) vs Sergio Mora - it might not immediately strike as the most inspiring fight, but I think it'd make for a nice chess match.

Would definitley test him. I don't see Bob doing that though... i see him going straight for Quillin right after and demanding a purse bid if I win next week

You don't just wear stuff over your knees if they're fine. I don't want to make excuses for him but it was clear his knees were ****ed. I don't care if he said he was healthy before he fight. You think he's really going to say "My knees are shot to ****." Cotto fans are becoming annoying as **** now.

You are an insufferable idiot. Cotto will get destroyed if he fights ANY top 5 MW. He is washed up and if you think Sergio was healthy you are a moron. And Garcia will get destroyed at Welter weight. Another Rican hype job. And he lives in PHILLY!! Some Rican.
