Comments Thread For: Lomachenko Feels "No Pressure" in Russell Jr. Clash

Vasyl Lomachenko (1-1, 1KO) hopes to seize his chance to win a world title in only his third professional fight against Gary Russell (24-0, 14KOs) at the StubHub Center in Carson City, California on Saturday.

Lomachenko, a double Olympic and triple world amateur champion, failed in his bid to make history in his second paid bout in March when he dropped a split decision to Orlando Salido.

But after Salido was stripped of his WBO featherweight title for failing to make the weight, the Ukrainian has been handed a second chance against Russell.

He shouldn't feel any pressure. Even if he loses they'll just get him another title shot.

He's got nothing to worry about.

Outside of the possibility of going 1-2 and looking like another hype job... possibly the biggest hype job in boxing history; making prospect of the year with on fight ( it's down right shameful). I have yet to see a bigger hype job in my life watching and performing in the sport of boxing!!!

How crazy is it that this isn't Loma's biggest fight of his 3 fight career, but this is Gary Russel Jr's?

I agree, this is ridiculous! People spend years fighting, some of them being very talented, yet never get a shot at the big time. Then here comes this green fighter just making his pro debut and bam! He gets two back to back title shots?? **** like this is what's wrong with boxing!
