I just think it would've been wiser to take a few pro fights before jumping in to an another title fight. He's going against another contender this time and not a champion, so may be that is their angle, but if he loses it'll look pretty horrible for Loma.

Have you seen Russells resume? In 2 fights Loma blew him out of the water. In his 2nd fight Loma was outweighed out experienced low blowed and still went 12 rounds with a great veteran champ AND hurt him. Doesn't speak too well for Russells career if you step back and look at it. What others have done that in their second fight? And came up short but given everything stacked against him did good as well as the quality of opposition.

A fit Salido, before Garcia Salido, would have hurt Lomachenko before he learned anything. The fact that Salido could not make weight is not to brag about, he was chosen as the sacraficial lamb, his weight issues were taken into consideration along with his 14 losses.

Actually no. When he signed with arum Lomachenko told arum he wanted a title fight in his second fight. That was one of the conditions to signing with arum. So before he even had one fight they already k ew he was going to fight for a title if he own his first which he did. The title was vacant before he fought the first time it's not like they had chosen salido from the get go.
