Why is Kirkland still relevant he rarely fights

It's the way he fights, like a mayorga, anytime they fight it seems like a big deal because of their style no matter how inactive they are

Kirkland has done next to nothing in the last two years and doesn't deserve a title shot at 154 and he sure as hell doesn't deserve a middleweight title shot. He has never defeated a middleweight in his career. Of course Cotto had never defeated a middleweight and he got the Martinez fight. Let's not turn the middleweight division into the Jr. middleweight division. Cotto needs to defend his middleweight title against a top rated full sized middleweight or step down from the throne if he wants to fight at 154. I think Cotto is way to good for Kirkland at any weight. Kirkland has been around a long time and he has never won a world title. He might beat a Bundrage or Ishe Smith but I doubt he will ever beat a Cotto or a Canelo or a Lara. He is too easy to hit and his chin is not very good.
