I'm gonna guess his criteria was "not knowing how to score a fight"

Probably why he's so focused on money right now.
Focused on losing money maybe, he wont fight because he decided to sue his promoter but blames his promoter for whats going on, he must be crazy. He thinks hes a PPV fighter because he won a few fights at the top level but nobody wants to see his fights on PPV and on top of that he wont leave Oakland anyway.

I used to be a fan but the guy just gets on my nerves now, if your a fighter then fight stop with all the ***** lawsuits and acting like hes owed something every time he opens his mouth to do an interview. The ego on some of these guys is unbelievable.

spoken like a true quitter LOL.. just like what lebron said before game 5. LB said he's ok if the heat doesnt win the champ this year. he is happy already with the stuff he has accomplished and theres more to life than just basketball. and then the heat lost. LOL.

while it's of zero benefit to sit at home, let's not act like froch is going to catch up to ward by winning domestic fights.
It would be tough for Froch to pass Ward in resume unless he beats Ward. He's not beating Ward. But Froch has been active and fighting solid fighters while Ward has had issues keeping him out of the ring.

A Groves win wouldn't help Ward. The win was only big for Froch because of what happened in the first fight. It's really about staying active though. Also, the Kessler and Bute wins were important for Froch (even though I don't think much of Bute, it was a solid win).

I'm a little confused on his entire situation. What's stopping him from fighting until his contract is up?

you do not know how to score boxing matches.
Marquess of Queensberry rules, code of rules that most directly influenced modern boxing. Written by John Graham Chambers, a member of the British Amateur Athletic Club, the rules were first published in 1867 under the sponsorship of John Sholto Douglas, ninth marquess of Queensberry, from whom they take their name. The rules are as follows:

Rule 2—No wrestling or hugging allowed.

Count how many times Ward hugged Froch in that fight and tell me you could give him the round when it is clearly against the rules. I score boxing matches according to the rules. If you don't than you don't know how to score boxing matches

Some of it is Ward's fault yes as he is not an attention seeker and is very stubborn, but I just know if he was with a bigger promotional house, they would have done more for him. Half of this sport is salesmanship and hype. Just look what Top Rank was able to do with Bradley.
Well, yes and no..The problem with ward is that he hasnt have a fight like bradley did against provodnikof(forgot how to spell)..Why dont you do an experiment...Ask kinda serious fan,not hardcores if they know who bradley and ward is and then ask to mention two fighters each have fought..Nobody knows ward and he is a very very boring fighter..How can you make him a PPV star?..Forget about being colorful outside the ring,Manny and Marquez come to mind, they both quite and respectful, but inside wreack havock as whereas Ward makes people want to change the channel...I have.

ward should retire now. he's had a great career, maybe not HOF worthy, but he definitely will be talked about for many years to come.

he has definitely lost his passion for boxing and when you lose that then you might as well call it a day.

I respectfully disagree. Goosen has provided Ward with easy fights to stellar purses after the s6 in Dawson and Rodríguez. That is some fine promotion right there. It's hard for me to see how a better job could have been done given Ward's history of injuries.

I know they turned down a Kessler fight in Denmark, but that might very well be Ward himself vetoing a fight in another top fighter's backyard.
