Comments Thread For: Gary Russell Jr: Lomachenko Still Fights Like an Amateur

When BoxingScene.com spoke to Gary Russell Jr. last month, he hadn't yet watched all of Vasyl Lomachenko's loss to Orlando Salido. What he did see, though, didn't leave him impressed.

"From the little bit that I did see, it showed me that he still fights like an amateur," Russell said. "He’s not comfortable with changes in style, he’s not comfortable when a guy gets rough. He doesn’t know how to make the adjustments on the fly. He doesn’t understand that. He doesn’t think that we’re going to take advantage of that in the fight."

This ncka is so freaking co.cky. I read an interview where he said, "Normally I just adjust and adopt in the first few rounds" "You cant outthink me...Im smart and I disarm my opponents" This fool talking like he some proven tactician or Floyd!!

I hate both of these guys for the way they disrespected the proven grounds, I pray for a double KO tbh!

He's in his third pro fight and has already fought better comp. he needs to talk about that instead. I like Gary Russell but someone needs to call out the TBA killer

Just imagine the huge fall Gary Russel Jr has lined himself up for if he doesn't beat Lomachenko...

I'm worried about this fight though, Loma will probably need to knock this guy out to get a decision in America...
The last fight was absolute bull**** and I can only imagine the judges and the referee will do everything they can to protect a hot prospect like Russel Jr.

What's with all the hate? Loma does not deserve a 2 title fights in a row, and Gary Russell Jr. has not fought any world beaters but he has gone the distance numerous times. If he believes in his skills so be it, but people on here act like bytches - I want him to get KO'd because he is this or that.. I think this will be a intriguing fight. We shall see and let the best man win. Russell was smart tho, he went the distance against cats he could have Ko'd to get those rounds in ! His last couple of fights have looked good, and now his back is against the wall so comp level will be moved up from here on out..

Impossible to root for this guy, basically fighting bums ala tba all his career, never stepping up, yet swagging and talking **** like 'mares will be so easy for me' and so forth. not to mention the smirk etched on his face. Hope lomachenko knocks him into obscurity

Hopefully the Salido fight was exactly the experience Lomachenko needed to snap him out of the amateur mindset.
