Comments Thread For: All-Star/Golden Boy Lawsuit Over Canelo Gets Trial Date

More than three years after initially filing its lawsuit against Golden Boy Promotions and Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez, Florida-based promoter All-Star Boxing will finally have its day in court.

The aforementioned case has been approved to appear before a jury trial in Dade County, Florida. The official jury date is set for October 13, 2014, with legal representation for all parties required to participate in a pre-trial hearing on October 2, 2014, according to a court order issued on June 12 by the Circuit Court of the 11th Judicial Circuit in Dade County.

The order was received by all parties by close of business on Monday, June 16. Both court sessions are scheduled to be held at the Dade County Courthouse.

This article doesn't shed much light on exactly at what point is canelo alleged to have broken the contract. What obligations did he not fulfill? What does all star want exactly, 180k? Canelo probably has 180k in change under his sofa seat cushions.

That is a valid point, but this case has been gathering dust for three years, which makes the timing suspect .... Off-times, when a company is in a down-turn, those with legal claims against it, push to resolve before anything unpredictable happens.

                - Alvarez is at his revenue generating peak
                - GBP is in a very compromised position with internal conflicts and defections occurring

Someone, somewhere instigated a timely push of this case to occur now, especially since GBP's future is suddenly uncertain.
