Because competition is where said skills are tested against other skills in the optimum environment.

But more people view a Floyd Mayweather fight. Bringing viewing figures into the mix isn't the smartest of things.

I am talking about entertainment not really proving skill level, the reason the fights are on tv is for entertainment if not then they wouldn't be televised.

I don't care who Carlos Molina beats, none of his fights should be televised but Gabe Rosado should be on tv even if he losses his next 10 fights.

Which is absolutely amazing to me but lets be honest people tune in for Khan for the chance that he gets clipped on his biscuit chin and put to sleep, that and he always gives a good show.

There is entertainment value in seeing people prove certain skills. You might not find it interesting but others do; that is life.

When was the last time that actually happened though?

                In recent years...

Pascal-Diaconu I and II, Froch-Kessler I and II, Froch-Pascal, Pac-Bradley II, Mayweather-Maidana, Trout-Cotto, Hopkins-Pascal II were all pretty exciting 12 round fights with no KD's. Those are just recent, not even historically the best 12 round fights.

Why does everyone take everything anyone says to such an extreme on this site? I don't literally mean every fight has to be won by brutal ko in 1 rd just that in main event fights I want to see some dramatic action fights, no pitty patting to boring safe decisions, and known pitty patters/ holders with no power shouldn't even be on tv no matter how much they win.

I mean, anyone is allowed to fight anyone, sure.

But I sure as hell wouldn't pay money to watch Hopkins vs Hopkins.

Only time I feel cheated is when a fight is not even competitive.
