Take away the first round and Ruslan looks like a BUM?

If Ruslan hadn't knocked down Algieri in the first round and all we saw was rounds 2 - 12, could it be argued that Algieri looked like he was fighting a bum?

I'm not saying Ruslan is a bum, all I'm saying is if you take away that first round then Algieri dominated that fight.. my guess for some of the crazy people saying ruslan did ok is that they are going by only the first round and then awarding ruslan brownie points for effort in the following rounds (the swinging and missing + pressure) - not for actual effectiveness..

i remember ruslan rocked algieri back with a good left hook in one of the later rounds.

also algieri's nose looked like a bloody mess at certain parts of the fight.

Provodnikov began getting outboxed in round 2. And he looked pretty mediocre before I fell asleep later in the bout. I also think he would have been seriously hurt if he was in with a heavier hitter. Prov is just not that good.

I can't understand why Marquez ducked Provodnikov. He would've had an absolute field day with him. Might have hit the deck once or twice but he'd had bounced combos off him for the majority of the fight.

Algieri is not getting enough credit. Even the people who think he won attribute it more to Prov's limitations rather then Algieri. Algieri showed good skills, speed and ring generalship, and that he's one tough bastard. Not only did he fight most of the fight with a ruined eye, but he took some wicked shots throughout the fight. The left hooks to the head and sweeping rights to the body from Prov were brutal.

I still had Prov winning.

I think the KD's were a bad thing for Provo. It made him more of a head hunter in the rounds that followed. He kept loading up in attempt to land that left hook.

I wouldn't say bum. He looked limited and not very smart.

Ruslan didnt look like a bum. He was the aggressor the entire fight. He has low ring IQ though. He has to realize that's he's losing the fight when getting touched constantly. Even if the shots dont hurt, they are scoring.
