The fight of yesterday reminded me a lot of Omar Figueroa vs. Jerry Belmontes. Both Provodnikov and Figueroa couldn't cut off the ring and were clearly frustrated with their opponent's movement. Belmontes and Algieri were busier but their punches had zero power. Another thing both bouts have in common: Provodnikov and Figueroa both said in the post-fight interview they were trying to entertain the fans and called their foes "runners".
I don't remember people screaming robbery when Figueroa retained his title. In my opinion Belmontes fought at least as well as Algieri and didn't get dropped twice. But it wasn't enough.
