I didnt like Roach's coaching last night

He did tell Ruslan he needed a knockout in the last two rounds, but by the sixth round Roach could clearly see that Ruslan was getting his ears boxed off. Why didnt he explain that they were losing those rounds?

He didnt seem to be doing his best to get it through Ruslan's thick skull that he cant win the fight on that swelling eye alone. By the 7th round, Roach should have been like, "This guy is all wrong for us. You need to go for broke and get him out of there"

Of course that's easier said than done when the guy is sticking and moving, but I thought Ruslan has Algieri in the corner a number of times and could have really went to work.. for some reason he was real hesitant though.

I think Ruslan was setup to lose. Algeri is a hometown kid, and without Judah and Paulie, they needed someone to step up and become a new local star for the Barclays arena. The promoters and managers know exactly what styles mix well with other fighters, and Provo is a fighter who people will watch regardless due to his brute force and way of fighting. Provo having a belt means nothing in the grand scheme of things, people watch him because he is a brutal monster in that ring. Now there's a new name on HBO, and Provo can be matched with the winner of Rios\Chaves or any other ****er, which will have ratings regardless. Think about it? out of all people, why did Algeri get the shot? did he deserve a shot at belt.. NO. It was all planned, since the names at the top are becoming thin, I wouldn't even be surprised if Provo threw that fight by not trying honestly. Nothing is out of question, when there's money involved.
