Provodnikov- In the right place at the right time

The truth is Provodnikov has never been that good, just extremely lucky.

Bradley went into the fight wanting to prove something, and fought like an idiot, the rounds he chose to brawl he lost, the rounds he chose to box he won quite easily. Gave Provodnikov every single chance to win that fight if you think about it, still couldn't pull off a W.

Then he gets Alvarado, coming off 2 vicious wars against Rios, came into the fight extremely weight drained as well. Still the fight was close, he made a Alvarado look like a great boxer at times even defensively and offensively I remember that fight quite clearly.

Then I heard he was possibly getting Pac who was coming off a KO loss, who admitted to getting hurt by Rios, I think it was very possible Provo knocks him out.

I could not believe how things were lining up for this guy.

Now he gets outboxed and exposed by a 1 eyed kick boxer with no power.

Props to Alg, but Provo has been overrated, shout out to those that called it as well.

I'll admit I fully expected Ruslan to KO Algieri - as many probably did. This was a surprise, props to Algieri. I thought it was a closer fight though than the judges scored it.

I wonder what Ruslan will do now, he was talking retirement plans before this fight. He should fight on if he still has it.

Provo sucks. He's Rios level. Not Matthysse or Maidana level when talking about the top pressure fighters at 140 and 47.

Benn saying this all along. He looked EXACTLY the same as every fight. By rd 6 he is ALWAYS reduced to simply following his guy around and doing nothing. He loses stamina after the first couple rds and it's down hill from their. Low output and cuts easy. He's not top class.

we dont need one of these threads everytime a guy loses. If you wanna say he was overhyped then fine but everyone is not going to be Floyd or Pac. These other guys are going to lose to eachother. As long as they are good fights, thats all that matters

Nothing luck about it. He is a tough brawler and he did well against Alvrado (a lesser brawler) and Bradley (very inconsistent/bipolar in just about all of his fights and destined to get caught by someone like Ruslan).

If people were putting Ruslan on ATG lists and stuff I would say he was lucky but that wasn't ever the case. He's just very very fun to watch.

With that said I thought Ruslan would win this Algieri surprised me big time. World class footwork, a little light on power but enough to keep Ruslan, a guy who likes to block punches with his mouth, at bay, so apparently enough.

Lol @ lucky. If Ruslan were lucky he would've gotten the nod in all of his close losses, but seeing as he's not the home town boy, he'll never get those luck scorecards.

overrated? Pretty sure no one ranked him the P4P list. I think he was ranked no.2 140 lber by Ring. I think everyone knew he had his limitations but he was still a very exciting fighter to watch and still is.

But one thing is for certain all the opponents who got a victory over him took the worst beatings of their career and had to really dig in deep to get the victory, there's something to be said about that.
