Comments Thread For: Groves Training, Wants Return "As Soon As Possible"

Super middleweight contender George Groves (19-2, 15KOs) is looking to return to the ring “as soon as possible” after suffering a knockout loss to champion Carl Froch before a record crowd of 80,000 fans at Wembley stadium on May 31. Groves recently signed a promotion agreement with European powerhouse Sauerland Event and he expects their company will take him right to the top with yet another world title opportunity.

Sauerland should have him fight Stieglitz, then Abraham for the WBO belt. Groves beats them both easily if he tightens up his defence a bit and doesn't get caught.

I'm not sure if this is the best idea, but it's also not the worst either. We've seen guys return too soon after tough fights, and end up looking worse (or haven't recovered good enough). We've also seen guys take too much time off, and still come back and perform poorly. Only time will tell...

                Why in London?

Doesn't sound like something Sauerland would do... If so I guess David Price will be on the undercard and they will be trying to rebuild the name up of Groves.

If I were Groves I'd be wanting to fight on one of those awesome German shows, get a good solid European fan base look how good its done for the Klitschkos.

In his ringside interview on sky sports Thursday just gone he said it was in London and Saurerland have already mentioned on Twitter that it'll possibly be in September in UK so it all matches up nicely

Perhaps they want to branch off and compete in the British market of talent with boxers... hopefully sign some more of our boxers
