Cotto will fight Canelo in December PPV. Cotto is looking to make the most money possible. Cotto vs Canelo is an all out war! Mexico vs Puerto Rico! That will sell out MSG or Vegas! And will do an easy 1.5 Million PPV.

This is a fight that just might not be worth it, but would be nice to see him defend against him
Cotto should face his mandatory and then get an optional. I don't wanna read threads saying "Cotto is ducking his mando"

Yea,Rubio is the only reason he had a shot at the belt in the first place.

****** though that he only got the mando position again because the WBC didn't want to test Jnr. after the fight and gave that to him in exhange for shutting up

Cant happen.... the WBC screwed Rubio one to many times and he has them by the balls right now. Rather then pursue litigation they let him fight for the interim title and guaranteed first crack at the winner of Cotto vs Martinez. He has it all in writing so WBC can screw him over again....
Rubio may not be the fan friendliest fighter to watch but hes been screwed over to many times by boxing politics and now karma is on his side.

You misunderstood what I was saying, that's partly my fault for using poor wording. What I'm saying is Cotto SHOULD fight Rubio since Martinez took the optional defense instead.

Its not going to happen because Rubio is literally some no name mando from Mexico and its a dangerous fight because Cotto is not only not a real MW he is not even really a JMW.

Rubio's knock out percentage looks better than he is as a puncher. He knocks out a lot of bums in Mexico. Anytime he fights a real opponent, he never does anything and loses. Even an out-of-shape Chavez beat him easily.

Cotto knocks him out within 4 rounds.

I kind to agree but I think Rubio has a few advantages over Cotto(not many though). On paper, it should be an easy fight for Cotto but again, why will Cotto take such a fight? Rubio has zero fan base so there is no money to be made.

I don't see that fight happening with so many more lucrative options awaiting Cotto
