Gennady's mother is korean. how come gennady never shows korean pride? just a question, i've no problems either way

He is my countryman. I am Kazakh, but he is not. Yet he says: "my mom is Korean, my father is Russian, but I am Kazakh". And he then explains that he perceives himself as Kazakh because that's who he was growing up with. Majority of amateur boxers in Kazakhstan are of Kazakh origin due to history and small/average physical attributes. If you are not Kazakh, either you are in if you are respected or you are out (which happens very often) - Gennady and Max were tough kids with big balls who could interract with others on equal terms (and with fists, if needed) on Kazakh language (if needed) so they made their way up into the tops although they were not of Kazakh origin.

Therefore Korean aspect of his origin may have given him workaholic attitude but as much his Russian genes gave him strong frame. He grew up among Kazakhs and therefore so proud of being one of us.
