Please guys, this topic is about moving up and not fighting old guys per se...the only reason Cotto holds a MW-belt is cause he fought an inactive, crippled zombie. He would/will lose to any legit MW out there. Yup May won the LMW title against Hoya who was old & past prime but also won/regained against a younger Cotto & young Canelo, May would beat any legit LMW like a real champion in a division would...thats why he is a CHAMPION. what healthy, -40 years old MW can Cotto beat? Man he couldnt even do s-h!t at LMW. If it wasnt for the record & Martinez state Cotto would collect one last paycheck against Canelo and retire cause he got no business to be anywhere else (from a sporting point of view, not financially, he is a huge draw) And please dont come with "he is a new fighter now" stuff, that is played out, i hear that stuff after every loss & immediately trainerchange from Cotto the last 5-6 years now, its getting really old now.

PS: Dont need to be harsh on me, i wasnt screaming when i was writing this, just my opinion gus

He weighed in at 155 vs Martinez...no point to fight there.

common man you got to be kidding, this is not in the slightest the same, okay Mosley & Sergio were both old and didnt fought for quite over a year... but the HUGE DIFFERENCE is that Mosley was coming off his maybe biggest win in his career+ was active (in the gym) and healthy between the fights...Sergio on the other side had his weakest performance ever, huge operations after it and couldnt even walk regular some months ago...and you really want to compare that with the Mosley - May fight?

Exactly, Why would he fight somebody at 168 if he only weighs 155.

How on earth can Cotto move to 168 when his prime fighting weight right now is 155 lbs.?

Yet nobody picked Cotto to win. May weather was like a 8:1 favorite. Despite being past prime, the prevailing right was that Cotto would die inside 12. If he came beat Trout, how can he how to begin to compete with THE MW champ.

That 2000 reply thread is a gold mine of nobody giving Cotto a shot. Now posters acting like they haven't said anything.

Mosely literally had no shot. He was there to make money

I think that is the tipping point, between 160 and 168.
