Based on what? His gym being the first a once-n-a-generation talent saw when he came to America? Like Virgil Hunter said awhile back. How many fighters has Roach groomed from day one that became world champions? His prized pupil was already a world champion when he got hold to him. Personally, I think all "star trainers" are overrated. IMO Roach is a much better match maker than he is a trainer.

You can't be serious. . Can we please start drug testing on here. Roach is a great trainer and is by far the best trainer out right now. Who was pac before roach? Cotto was shot until he linked up with roach. Provo is no great talent yet he gave Bradley all he can handle and is now a champ. Khan had the biggest wins in his career under roach, left him after a knockout lost because he couldn't withhold punishment at 140 due to the weight cutting, went with Virgil and almost lost to a journey man Julio Diaz. A roach trained khan at 147 would've knocked Collazo out inside of 5. Seen what happened to angulo last two fights, berto, dallas jr, Gonzales now vs degale.. they all got schooled. All trained by Virgil hunter. Rios lost two straight fights, donaire doesn't seem the same, margarito got schooled vs mosley, pac and Cotto.. all trained by garcia. You rarely see a roach fighter getting schooled and coming unprepared to a fight.

Pacquiao got knocked the F out in 6 rounds by Marquez. A guy Roach has trained Manny to fight 3 times prior. What great trainer can't fix his fighters flaws going up against the same guy 4 times? Roach even said that Pacquiao would knocked Marquez out. What kind of great trainer would make a statement like this while totally underestimating the toughest opponent of his prize pupil's career? Also, Roach is steadily looking for dents in fighters armors to get a 1 up on them. He blatantly talks about fighters being shot and wanting his fighters to fight them because of that. Roach has done a lot in his career and respect for it but lets not act like dude is super spectacular. Pacquiao, Khan, Chavez Jr and others lost big under Roach watch.

Is it me or does Roach have an inferiority complex? Constant **** talking even over small things like another trainer giving Algieri a chance. And it is funny Roach asking what Garcia knows. Hello he is a world class trainer. And lets not forget the fact that Garcia actually had a successful fighting career.

Rios said yes, but Bob Arum said no. Bob Arum told Provo that Rios couldn't be trusted to make 140. Funny thing is, Bob Arum promotes Rios and not Provodnikov. That's Bob, always "trying to give us the best fights."

I don't know the reasons why Arum didn't let that fight happen, but I'm going to give my opinion here... Arum made Rios favor here. Rios and Alvarado have been thru many consecutives wars. Not healthy at all. I feel sorry for Alvarado. 2 wars against Rios, destroyed by Ruslan and damaged against Marquez.

Roach is a frank and an impetuous type of a guy, he says what's on his head, and he's absolutely not afraid of any criticism either. Everyone is different and at the end of the day, what matters is what you've done in your life and what you've contributed in this world.
