Comments Thread For: Emmanuel Taylor-Karim Mayfield to ESPN2 on 7/18

Two junior welterweights coming off nationally televised losses aim to get back in the win column July 18 when Emmanuel Taylor and Karim Mayfield meet at The Paramount in Huntington, New York.

BoxingScene.com was informed that ESPN2 will air the bout on its “Friday Night Fights” series. Joe DeGuardia’s Star Boxing will promote the card.

Taylor (17-2, 12 KOs), from Edgewater, Maryland, is coming off a decision defeat in February to Chris Algieri on ESPN2, while Mayfield (18-1-1, 11 KOs), from San Francisco, lost a regional title bout to Thomas Dulorme on HBO one month later. [Click Here To Read More]

Is this the guy who lost to Algieri in his last fight?

Looking forward to seeing Mayfield back in action, he's a good fighter. I'd like to see him fight Provodnikov.

Solid matchup....guys willing to put it all on the line. I'd rather see this than some overprotected prospect fight some TBA which got old long ago.

Whoever wins can get a shot at a champion/strong contender and revive themselves. Loser just fades out.

As far as the undercard and "unnamed opponent", that's been signed. Cletus Seldin will be fighting Jared "The Quiet Storm" Robinson (14-1), who fights out of Charlotte, North Carolina. This is going to be Seldin's biggest test. In Jared's last fight (his only loss) he got caught by a punch and fell through the ropes; and that's why the referee stopped the fight, even after Jared climbed back in. He wasn't knocked out, like so many ****** reports said. If Jared hadn't fallen through the ropes, it would have been a totally different fight.

Interesting fight. Taylor losing to Algieri doesn't seem as bad as it did before last weekend.
