    Welp

Yup. While some where saying Cotto's banking on Sergio's health, Sergio was banking on Cotto's size. I've heard it all the week leading to the fight "Cotto is too small for the Jr MW alone Sergio's too big".

so when sergio says he just got caught with a good punch and it wasn't about the knees everyone says "oh he's lying, he doesn't know anything", but when it's his trainer that says it's the knees everyone jumps on it like "see!"

      disgusting.

i'd rather listen to the fighter who actually knows whether his knees were good that night or not.

I doubt the Chavez fight had much to do with it. Martinez did not take sustained punishment in that fight; he took a handful of punches (very good punches, certainly) in the last minute and a half. In that fight he took less than a fifth of the punishment he took in the first Williams fight.

The Murray fight was confirmation that the Martinez of old was gone. Very few fighters can fight at the elite level at 38 or older. I think that fight could have gone either way, but at least he had enough left to compete with the top dogs in the division (Golovkin excepted). He wasn't wearing any knee protection in that fight, which suggests that at the time of the Murray fight it was mainly age which was effecting him. I don't know what happened in the interim between that fight and the Cotto one, but Martinez looked to have the legs of a granny in the latter.

Sergio's trainer's perception as to what was wrong with Sergio, does not make it a fact. Just watched Sergio prior to the fight starting and he was bouncing around, pivoting etc. Sergio's problem was his chin and Cotto's left hook. I expect Sergio's trainer to make an excuse. Sergio's performance reflects on him. Take note, both Sergio and Dibella have gone on record saying his knee was fine. When you get clocked to the chin, your legs have a tendency to look like that. Ask Judah if it was his "knee" Stop crying today.

If you've followed Sergio's career you would know he'd never make that excuse in defeat. Even when probed for the di****able judge in the p will 1 fight he kept it classy.

It doesn't take a trained eye to see he was pushing his punches and unable to move or step in hard/in any sharp directions.

Hell... Even Roach has said he isnt the same as in the chavez fight...

Sergio's done. No amount of wishful thinking by us will change that. No anount of wishful thinking will give us acotto fans the real satisfaction of beating him at his best.

The general thought was Sergio still had ENOUGH but that if he didnt, he was going to lose. He had nothing, and this was the result.

It's not too often that the lineal champ is no longer considered the best fighter in his class due to injuries...that alone tells you how iffy Sergio was

For effs sake dude couldnt even run in training or bend enough to duck a stationary rope. :/...

Good call he's clearly shot. Also that's the sign of a good trainer, shows there's love between the two and it's not all about the money.

Speaking of "shot," did you see the shot Cotto landed to his jaw? Had him prancing around like a baby deer taking his first steps.

Not nice punching pensioners in the face. Not a good look.
