      Tyson

Mike at his peak in the late 80's was a very dominant, frightening, and overpowering heavyweight champion.
I agree that Evander would have beaten him had they fought after Holyfield ko'd Douglas, but Mike was a great one to me.
His career at the top was meteoric, short-lived and very exciting, and brought lots of attention back to boxing after the boring post Larry Holmes era.
I would have Mike in my Top Twenty, but not in the Top Ten.

Ya, and Jack Johnson would whoop everyone on that list and laugh at them. No can prove who can whoop who, these are all opinions.

Tyson is the reason why boxing is still around today. No one watched boxing back in the mid 80's. Then Tyson came along and made many a Boxing fan like myself.

Look at the people on your list and study their records like I have. Tysons 52-6 isnt that bad, He just had some mental problems...probly may have been the main factor in his downfall.

Name someone else that beat micheal Spinks?

I think even the biggest Tyson haters would have Tyson winning at least one of those fights.

Still, Tyson beat two people that Ali couldnt. There's just no way Holyfeild would have beaten an 87' Tyson.

Why do you have Holyfeild as so great? 38-8-2 isnt that great, his biggest win was against Tyson...a fight that was stopped cause of a cut...how impressive.

Mike Tyson AWESOME!!!!! I like this guy. His style, his power, his speed. The way he put fear in his opponents when he fought him. His opponents in his prime literraly got scared to throw punches at him. Tyson is a legend!

Buster Douglas- If you look at Tysons face going into this fight what do see?, someone that's very bored. After Tyson beat Spinks, he just became a head hunter. Just watch his fights against Frank Bruno and Carl Williams. No head movement, no intinsty, just looking to land one big punch. Then the Buster comes along. Now everyone says he was getting his butt handed to him the whole night...BS! One judge had Tyson up on his scorecard and another had the fight even. So it wasnt as one sided as some make it seem. In round 8, Tyson KO's Buster, but the ref only counts to 9. The count seemed VERY slow.

Evander Holyfield- Tyson after sevring 3 and a half years in jail makes a comeback. He KO's Frank Bruno in 3 rounds to win back the WBC belt. Then KO's Bruce Seldon in 1 round to win back the WBA belt. That alone is a huge accomlisment after no training for close to four years in jail. People make it out like Holyfield sent Tyson to the floor every round or something. When it was really Tyson trying to come in on the inside and Holyfield just counter punching. Then the fight was stoped in the 11th round due to Tysons cut. So then comes the rematch, the highest selling PPV in history. The first two rounds where rather even with Holyfield having the edge. Then the infamous 3 round takes place. Tyson is really hitting Holyfield, having the best round of either fight. It even looked like Tyson could KO Holyfield. Then Holyfield throws a headbutt and busts Tysons head open. The ref says the headbutt was an acident. We all know what happens next.

Lennox Lewis- This was Tysons first and only " really real" loss. At the press conference, Tyson actully wrestled with Lennox on the floor and bit Lennox on the leg. Lennox with cloths ripped and leg bitten ran up outta there. This fight was a bad style match up. Lennox being about half a foot taller and had a 13'' reach advantage. Tyson did anything but back down in this fight. He even won the first round. He came charging out of his conner in every round at Lennox. Lennox said himself that Tyson was WAY past his prime and believed he was in his. I strongly believe if this fight had taken place in Tysons prime it would have been a KO victory for Tyson. I mean, does anyone blame Joe Louis for losing to Rocky Marciano? Watch that fight and there's alot of simaliritys to Tyson vs. Lewis.

Danny Willaims- Tyson was winning this fight. He hurt his knee in the 2nd but fought on to the fourth.

Kevin Mcbride- This one really ticks me off. Tyson trainer told him he should quit, cause he was behind in the fight. Even though 2 judges had Tyson ahead!

Well there you have it...the losses. Compare him to other greats like Joe Louis, Jack Dempsey, Sonny Liston, Jack Johnson, he deserves to be mentioned with those guys. There records are similar, Tyson has does many great things. I think the biggest was winning back the WBC and WBA belts after 3 and ahalf years with out training. I dont think some understand how devastating that can be to a Boxers career. But some chose only to look at the above losses.....
no excuse for the douglass, holyfield or lewis lost. tyson was done in the mcbride fight as well.

                      Someone with sense around here.

That's something Ali could NEVER do...make his opponents afraid of him. People where so scared of him they would forget to fight back, they just tryed to live another round. Not even Foreman put that kind of fear into fighters.
