Well... he is not. But like I said there is not one definitive definition of "elite".

    Post your list man.

GGG is probably elite, but its hard to say at this point, considering the biggest names on his resume are Macklin and rosado (legit opponents, but still).

          Wlad
          Ward
          Cotto
          The winner of Canelo/Lara
          Mayweather
          Pacquiao
          Bradley
          Marquez
          D. Garcia (debateable but he meets my criteria)
          Donaire
          Rigondeaux

Some guys like GGG are on their way but those fighters have been proven at the world class level against top notch competition and have beaten the very best in their division.

Well he beat up Bradley better than elite pacquiao did.And yes i realize he also got beat up worse than pac did but the fight itself was more entertaining than the 2 bradley fights with pac put together. i sort of think he is elite for simply what he brings to the table and would make an interesting fight for any of the top guys in the division.

Those are the only truly elite fighters in the sport. If we're talking elite for a division, I'd post different, but elite within the context of the entire sport? That's it.
Good list. I'll add Cotto and Mikey G. Bradley is an honorable mention.

Good list. I disagree with Danny though and I would have said this before the Herrera fight. I just don't see something special when I watch his fights. He is just good.

                  What makes him elite?

I agree with the base list and the additions, except I'd swap Garcia and Bradley on the honorable mention bit. I would also add Donaire despite his recent performances.

He's borderline to me. I don't see anything special either but I'm trying to base it on what they have proven and he has basically unified his division and holds all of the belts. (Peterson's belt is a fluke). I have a really hard time not calling a unified lineal champion an elite fighter. And let's not forget 140 was one of the strongest divisions in boxing and Garcia was the last man standing.

I think if he can somehow get that WBO title from Ruslan it would push him across.
