It's not to discredit Holmes or Cotto, because in that same light, Holmes eventually became a hell of a champion in his own right - but to realize that Martinez and Ali should've never taken these fights in hindsight.
It's heartbreaking to see guys like Martinez and Ali who relied so much on their athleticism have their bodies fail on them. I think it's worth acknowledging that an end of an era is coming, with a new generation taking over. It's going to hurt just as bad too when Cotto, Mayweather, and Pacquiao start hitting the same roadblocks which took down Martinez last night.
