Comments Thread For: De La Hoya: We Must Put Grudges Aside, Make The Fights

(CANASTOTA, NY): Capping a legendary athletic career that included 10 titles at six different weight divisions; a gold medal and dozens of championship fights, International “Golden Boy” Oscar De La Hoya was inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame today in Canastota, NY.

“Today marks an incredible personal achievement, but it is only the latest milestone that never would have been possible without my family, my friends and, most of all, my fans,” De La Hoya said during the ceremony.

Did anyone catch Friday Night Fights this last Friday? When Oscar was doing the interview he seemed a little "off"

I knew Oscar was getting tired of all the relentless ducking going on in the sport. No good fighter wants to fight another good fighter right now and they get away with it. Oscar never did that crap.

You guys drinking Oscar's Kool-Aid. If you're serious about forgiveness then you can't be selective. How you going to come out of rehab talking about forgiving grudges and still taunting Mayweather on twitter? How you going to talk about forgiving grudges with Arum across the street and not talk to Schaeffer in your own house? They spoke through lawyers. What do you think Mr. I Love Jesus? Know anything about real forgiveness or you just play'n?

I don't think Oscar has to defend himself against a dirty deceiving bastard like Schaefer, don't compare a legend to a shitbag.

He just wants business to be booming but it must annoy him a little when the likes of Mayweather, Quillin and so on are hiding like bitches from real fights.

I think you missed the point. Schaeffer himself was the one saying repeatedly in public that he refuses to work with other promotions so getting rid of him is a required step in "putting grudges aside".

Don't you guys want to see fighters fight each other? Worshiping specific fighters is bad enough. Once people start being diehard fans of businessmen like Schaeffer and Arum and co it just gets funny... You should go stand outside the local tax accounting office applauding every time they send a fax.
