Don't see it happening. Cotto won't fight in September and by next May I'm sure he won't be middleweight champ anymore if he faces a legit MW. I do however think Cotto can beat Quillin if he faced him, dude just isn't that good.

Aside from all the other bs that comes with Floyd, I'm pretty sure his return date was set for September while Cotto's is for December.

Cotto weighed in at 160 on fight night, Floyd can easily weigh in 155-160 on fight night.

And since when has Floyd ever come into the ring @ 155 or 160 lbs? He can barely get beyond 150 even when against big boned Canelo.

I was very disappointed in Floyd's last performance, and there's no doubt that Cotto gave one of the most spirited efforts against Mayweather. But Cotto was in shape for that fight, tried to beat Floyd to it, and still lost the bout by a wide margin.

Why does Roach think a second fight would produce a different result? If he believes that Floyd has aged since Cotto-Mayweather, then what he's really saying is not "I think Cotto is a better fighter" but rather "I think Floyd is now way past his prime." That's sort of an insult to Cotto.

I like Cotto. He's a great fighter and he was very smart for taking a calculated risk in fighting Sergio Martinez at what proved to be the right time. But I think it's incredibly telling that Cotto's team isn't talking up fights with the best middleweights or top fighters who could come down a weight division from 168, like Golovkin.

Heck, Bernard Hopkins says he can make 160 if given time. If he becomes lineal champion at light heavyweight, maybe he should go back down and fight Miguel Cotto to become the middleweight champion once again. That sounds crazy, but it's really no more absurd than becoming lineal middleweight champ and immediately calling out a 147 pounder.

I agree. I doubt Cotto is going to be willing to jump right back into training camp again for Mayweather. September is just too close. They'd either have to push the fight date back or something to make a Cotto fight happen. So I don't see him going up against Cotto this year unless that happens.
