I was giving Cotto the most crap but got to say that he delivered big time. Not going to take away from his win by saying his knees because prior I was saying Martinez would beat Cotto down. He had Martinez all figured out and Roach did a great job with Miguel Cotto.

Right cotto you ve beat a Martinez who s way past his best, both knees damaged which became evident in round 1, and an old man. Now cotto fight GGG or Chavez if you think ur a topic ke weight.

Basically fight a legitimate middle weight who's not a cripple.

Lmfao at the ppl using the knee as the excuse after saying this was a mismatch and Cotto was going to get knocked out!

          Martinez has 28 KO's not 38.

Cotto did what he was supposed to do to an unhealthy fighter. It's sort of like Pac-DLH, yes Pac was going up 2 weight classes, was underdog and Roach/Ariza were calling it that DLH is done, old/can't pull the trigger and can't make 147 healthy but Pacquiao still got massive props at the time. But then the win looked strange when DLH came in on fight night at 147lbs and retired after the fight.

In this case Roach called Martinez old, done and unhealthy, yet Cotto was underdog and coming up in weight. Cotto getting massive props but Martinez will subsequently retire and people saw how bad the state of his knees were. The win is very popular now but it will diminish once Martinez retires, which I believe is now.

it will never diminish in my eyes. cotto made history and sergio congratulated him and made no excuses like a real man and champion. respect to both fighters.

this is one of the greatest wins of all time.

The key was jumping on Sergio early. Sergio needed a couple of rounds to warm up his knees and to shake off the rust. If he would not have jumped on him we saw Sergio start to het a lil of his mojo back by the 4th, but he was already taking punishment. Cotto's punch placement was killer they studied Sergios herky jerky movements.. Cotto was scary accurate.. smart business move goibg after Martinez instead of Canelo - Cotto can rematch Floyd at 160 for a mega fight, or wait to see if Canelo beats Lara..

People are all excited now but they forget cotto ain't no middle weight and if he fights ggg he is going to get a worst beating then he gave Martinez. He will fight Canelo that's his safest bet to atleast defend his bogus belt one time

It was a historical win of course. Cotto won the first Ring title of his career and is the first Puerto Rican boxer to win titles in 4 weight classes. He's a top 5 ATG in PR's boxing history books, probably top 3.

But like the DLH win for Pac, people will analyze it more as the months/years go by and the win will become less impressive. Now if Martinez makes a comeback and goes on to beat some Middleweights like Golovkin, Quillin, Solimon, Lee, the win would definitely look great. As of right now, Martinez's next fight is retirement, unless he is planning on having his next fight in a wheelchair or with crutches.
