I asked a casual fan if he likes Mayweather. You won't believe what he had to say.

    ^^^

This, Alot of people who don't usually watch boxing tune into mayweather fights, they might not be fans of mayweather per'se but they tune in just because he's the biggest draw

Dumb thread. I asked 3 co-workers who happen to be casual fans, and they think he's the greatest boxer ever because he hardly gets hit. Doesn't make it true.

I have spoken to casual fans that like PPV fights to go 12 rounds. They feel a fight going 12 shows it was competitive, while an early TKO shows of the underdog shows the fight was a blow out. People like upset TKO's but not the favored guy getting the TKO. It kinda gives the impression that it was easy and was supposed to be easy.

          I reiterated.

          "Floyd Mayweather."

"Nah," he told me. "Nah. I'm like Mike Tyson. Power. I grew up watching Tyson."

"He was a good, strong brawler," I said. "But how come you don't like Mayweather?"

My buddy explained, "Because he doesn't get knockouts. The guy is all tired, and he doesn't take him out. Make it worth the sixty bucks, c'mon."

Looking a little befuddled, he added.

"I mean, he's good. He moves."

          I said "Ah, okay."

          ...

So there you have it, fellas. That's what a casual boxing fan thinks of Money Mayweather.

He said it from an unbiased perspective. It's an interesting insight. Someone from the outside seeing it for what it is. All of us on this site are fanboys (to different degrees) and have biasness.

*co-worker is African American (not that race matters, just saying for all the black power Mayweather posters who are quick to pull the race card)
This isn't some new discovery. People love to see knockouts and brutality, not "tag, you're it".

I can remember fans wanting there money back from Tyson fights because they were so short or did people forget.

Off topic...I like how today there's a big PPV, one of the biggest fights of the year between Cotto and Martinez..yet there's Mayweather threads being started still. It's amazing IMO.

Duh..... Everyone hardcores and casuals alike want to see fireworks and ko's.... Certain posters like certain fighters and act like they are "true" boxing fans that like straight vanilla boxing, but that's a lie.

That's peculiar. I asked somebody in Asian and they said they loved him.

                    Different strokes.
