MANILA, Philippines – It won't be smart for Juan Manuel Marquez to be in a fifth bout against WBO welterweight champion Manny Pacquiao, according to Timothy Bradley's trainer Joel Diaz.
Marquez could be considering getting inside the ring again with Pacquiao in his pursuit of a fifth world title, but Diaz said it's not worth the trouble because he sees the Filipino boxer beating the Mexican this time.
"He really put a mark on boxing when he knocked him (Pacquiao) out the last time and he should carry on with that,” said Diaz, who cornered for Bradley during his last fight against Pacquiao.
“He can come back and take a beating because before he knocked out Pacquiao that night, he was, towards the end, he was really hurt,” he said in Hustle Boss.
A fifth bout between the two boxers will be motivated by money, something Pacquiao and Marquez don’t exactly need at this point of their careers, said the boxing coach.
But he also dismissed talks about the people getting tired of seeing Pacquiao and Marquez fight.
“Some people say that's not the fight they wanna see. But if they hype up the fight, I'm pretty sure they will [want to see the bout]. It's all a matter of hyping up the fight the way they do it,” said Diaz.
“If there will be a fifth fight, I think Manny will be the winner.”
