Most fighters that have big ups and downs need to hear a fresh voice and need to have someone who will emphasis conditioning first then Methods & Techniques and Freddy has always done that.
I knew Freddy when he was a Junior Olympic boxer fighting out of Mass and Region One section of the USA amateur's. He was a determined little guy then and he remains a very determined and very successful trainer.

Cotto is in the position where every loss means a change in trainer, but it's false. A loss would just mean Cotto lost to the better fighter. Boxer's who change trainers like they change underwear are lost and on the decline. That's what DLH was doing at the tail end of his career.

Why should he leave a better trainer to go train with a worse one? How many trainer of the years awards has senior won? Other than his son and Oscar how many top fighters has he trained? Not a tenth as many top fighers as Roach. Look how well Hatton did against Pacquiao and Roach when he was trained senior. Roach is a damn good trainer and a much better trainer than Mayweather. I think Cotto will lose because Martinez is too big and fast for him. He has a better chance to beat Martinez being trained by Roach than he would have if he were trained by Mayweather or any other trainer.
