Comments Thread For: Sergio Martinez-Miguel Cotto: BScene Staff Predictions

It has the potential to serve as the biggest fight of the year, even if it was never even on the map as recently as a year ago.

That’s because as recently as a year ago, Miguel Cotto had no aspirations of fighting at middleweight. The business dictated otherwise, as the former three-division champion moves up in weight to take on the very best, as World middleweight king Sergio Martinez returns to make his 7th title defense Saturday night at Madison Square Garden.

Cotto (38-4, 31KO) is giving away a lot in natural size, but brings the crowd with him as the Puerto Rican superstar has owned this particular weekend in New York City. The HBO Pay-Per-View headliner comes on the eve of the Puerto Rican Day parade, with Cotto fighting in a New York venue under such circumstances for the 6th time in his career.

I got Martinez by KO or ref/Roach stops it in the 8th. Once Martinez catches Cotto flush with a solid shot then it's lights out for Cotto. Cotto has problems with physically bigger fighters.

Cotto will have to pressure and bring the heat. And thats what going to get him knocked out. This won't be easy for sergio eatly. But around round 5 he'll start picking cotto apart. I predict a late stoppage for martinez

Is Sergio healthy... that will decide whether Cotto gets stopped.

I second this notion. I'm very suprised. But then again, even a broken clock is right two times a say.

I'm a huge Cotto fan but I must admitt I'm pretty shocked at how many people picked him to win .. Me, I'm hoping Cotto is even competitive to be honest .. It's going to be very tough for him

Seems like I'm not the only one who has that special type of knowledge. I am so confident about what will happen tonight. A lot of people are COMPLETELY clueless. I have analyzed this fight thoroughly and I have no doubt in my mind Miguel Cotto will make history at the Garden tonight.

The problem with your theory is Sergio is bigger, stronger and faster, with one punch KO power. How does Cotto pressure a bigger, stronger, faster guy.
Miguel's my dude too but Sergio by vicious KO!!!!!
