Comments Thread For: Miguel Cotto is Ready: There is No Doubt I Will Win!

Remember when there those people who said Miguel Cotto was “finished” after his 12 round unanimous decision loss to Austin Trout in December of 2012?
Well, Miguel Cotto heard those comments as well.

Even after the loss to Trout, Cotto still built an impressive resume. The three-division world champion is still a shoe-in for the International Hall of Fame, but like any boxer, believes he is not done.

So a change of scenery and trainer is what he believed was in order. It has worked thus far, even if it is one fight.

Reading throug the lines makes me think that he has been working hard but he relies too much on Roach which might a little sign of him lacking confidence...

The Racket Sqaud: The Weakest Link?

There is little doubt that Cotto elected to fight his perception of the weakest link in Martinez as opposed to taking on the young, strong and determined Saul Alvarez.

Those were his ONLY big payday choices and he selected another superb boxer to go to war with.
If Cotto could not dispose of Austin Trout on his own turf, how the hell are we supposed to believe that he can beat Martinez?

Tonight, the 'weakest link' will end Cotto's career, enacting skill, experience, will and strength. Sergio Martinez is not through yet.

It's a farewell Garden Party for Miquel Cotto.

I'll be surprised if Cotto wins. The only variable I could see that contributes Cotto winning is Freddie Roach. Just based on Cotto's loss to Trout, you'd think Martinez could just outbox him using his size, speed and power advantages. Let's hope that Roach designed the perfect game plan for Cotto.

And let's face it, Martinez has probably been juicing since his KTFO win over Paul Williams. He's been one of those rare athletes in his 30's that has enhanced his strength, speed and overall performance exponentially. I just remember his promoter Lou DiBella was criticizing certain boxers for being suspected for PEDs. Then after Martinez showed remarkable improvement, DiBella immediately STFU.

I wonder if Cotto will target Martinez' knee. Malignaggi complained of bruised legs after fighting Cotto; claimed Cotto uses discrete, dirty tactics like smothering you with his feet/knees to disrupt your balance. Maybe he'll be kneeing Martinez bad leg all night? Just a thought.
