Comments Thread For: Arum on What It’d Take to Re-sign Guillermo Rigondeaux

Junior-featherweight champion Guillermo Rigondeaux’s final fight under his deal with promoter Top Rank will be on July 19 against Sod Looknongyantoy, a bout taking place in Macau, China, on a card also featuring Chinese star prospect Zou Shiming.

Rigondeaux’s falling out with Top Rank has been well-chronicled. Rigondeaux’s team feels the promoter hasn’t done enough to market him and his talent. Top Rank feels that Rigondeaux’s style isn’t marketable. And Rigondeaux went from defeating Nonito Donaire on HBO last year to waiting for a second date on that network. Then he got one and topped a reluctant Joseph Agbeko late last year on HBO, a bout that pulled in an incredibly low viewership rating for the network. [Click Here To Read More]

Ja ja . Thanks al Haymon . Rigo doesn't need you anymore and there is showtime out there . Santacruz , who is with Haymon , and maybe mares who is probably signing with him too , would be great fights for rigo and for the channel
. RigondeAux is a special talent whom I'm sure Haymon will sign .
Keep your loser and exposed ducknaire on hbo , the winner and better boxer , rigondeaux , will be on showtime ...... Hit and not get hit ; you can't not hit what you don't see . This is boxing , not fighting .

I got an idea how about you actually put him in with fighters people want to see him fight. Ever since he beat donaire arum has done nothing for this guy. I find it hard to believe people would not tune in to see him in droves if fighting a fighter people want to see him fight. Dont donaire want a rematch? Maybe now that gpb and arum are doing business we can get a rigo vs mares or santa cruz maybe a gary russel. Well see I just feel these promoters are wasting these ridiculously talented fighters careers it reminds me of ward where the promoters just flat out cant get these guys the fights to progress their careers. Maybe its just that I like boxer type style in boxing but its still what it is.

Arum still mad that rigo embarresed his cash cow in donaire and made it difficult for donaire to be strategically placed into stardom . Arum on the way out . Move over bob! Al haymon running the show now .

Santa Cruz, Mares, and Russell Jr. will all be great fights if Rigo goes across the street.

I can't wait until Rigo part away from Arum. This Arum ruined the Gamboa carrier also. I can't say with real certainty that Arum is against Cubans but is a "casualty " that he near destroyed Gamboa is his prime and now is doing the same with Rigo.

Some people argue that Rigo won't do any better with another promoter. The way I see it: If I'm sitting in prison and they ask me if I want to leave, I won't say no because I don't know where I'll go when I walk out those doors. Guillermo just needs to go....

Top Rank has Walters, Lomachenko and Gradovich.

GBP or whoever has Mares, Santa Cruz and Russell.

                  Take your pick.

Is not possible for arum to promote a champion against his own thoughts. Arum doen;t believe in Rigo and he is against him. He is now trying to price down him.
