Is much of the Cruiserweight divisions problem just the name?

Its the least popular and unknown of weight classes and I think alot of it is the name. No one outside of hardcore fans has any idea what a Cruiserweight is.

I think they should change the name to Super Light heavy weight, it give someone the idea that, "oh bigger than LHW but smaller than HWs, what like 190lb guys right"?

I think divisions need stars and as soon as CW gets a star they're encouraged and hyped to move up to HW.

The same thing happens at 140 but to a lesser extent.

It's a lousy division. Casual fans look at 200 pound fighters and ask "why aren't they fighting heavyweights?" Not realizing that the heavyweight champ is a 6 foot 7 beast.
I thought it was going to gain some traction when David Haye started building momentum but then he left for heavyweight. Then again with Adamek, but the same thing. The division basically operates as a springboard for smaller heavyweights to test the waters and build a name for themselves amongst the purists before ultimately moving up.

Back before I knew about the division, ''Cruiserweight'' always sounded like one of the really small weight classes.

Like in the same bracket as featherweight and bantamweight.
