    IF Cotto beats Martinez

Would anyone actually consider him the best middleweight in the world? Cotto vs Golovkin would be homicide in a ring.

So if he wins 160 crown, moves down to 154 for Floyd or Canelo, what the hell does Golovkin do?

Try to fight the other MW champion Quillin since the cold war is over.

No. If he doesn't then go on to defend against at least one MW titlist the lineage becomes meaningless IMO - GGG is widely recognised as the champion in waiting and should get the opportunity, but I guess either Quillin or Soliman would at least give Cotto some credibility as a unified MW titlist.

If he carries the title off to a JMW fighter coming up for the occasion - 'Nelo's gotta be ready for 160 for instance - it would simply be a farce.
