Thanks for the memories morales
Will never forget getting a phantom kd called against you in the 12th rd vs Barrera, and when the ref ended the count, you just ran across the ring and let if fly at Barrera
Also love the very first round vs manny, when manny opened up a combination on Eric, and Eric took it all, shrugged and was like "is that it" and proceeded to beat manny across the ring and nearly out of the ropes..
True warrior

I remember seeing a lot of Pacquiao fans going "that was really nice of Erik" because they thought it was Erik's way of giving them what they wanted to see (Pacquiao having a chance) but, in reality, it was Erik humiliating Pacquiao and basically going "look, I can even switch to a stance I don't fight out of and still whip your ass."
Balls for days on that guy.
Also - The repeated taunting of Pacquiao with the gloves in the air thing that he used to do to reset after getting tagged was hilariously disrespectful.
Finally, another great memory from that fight was in the post fight interview when Merchant asked Morales why he switched to southpaw in the 12th and Morales just put his hand on Larry's shoulder, smiled, and said "did you like that?"
What a tremendous fighter Erik Morales was.

Morales/Maidana is a perfect example of one of those fights where who wins and loses doesn't even matter once the final bell has rung. It's a fight that perfectly showcases that there are some things in sport (and life) that are more important than simply winning.
Morales looked like ****ing Quasimodo in there, but he never stopped giving everything he had despite the fact that he was clearly aging and had taken too much abuse for too long a career.
That fight is absolutely beautiful and a quintessential example of what it means to be a fighter.
Gracias, Erik. Gracias.
