Good point. Why would Chavez allow filming of him BSing during camp? Maybe he was so confident that he would just walk through Martinez, and wanted to show he didn't really have to even train hard for him. Or maybe he wasn't really BSing at all, but wanted us to believe that he was.

Chavez is known for being lazy, and I don't doubt he trained poorly for this fight, but he did make 160 for the fight. Means he at least had to be in some sort of shape.

He almost ko Sergio though late. U would think a guy with just five days of training would fade late or have been ko before that.

Wait a minute Chavez was like 20 pounds bigger than Martinez on fight night got beat for 11 rounds and Martinez still gave him a last chance to knock him out going toe to toe with him.

When Chavez drop him the first time Martinez got up and still went toe to toe.

so dont give me that bull***.

Healthy martinez floors Cotto easy easy.

Yes a guy that was practically a heavyweight draining himself with diuretics got beat on for 33 minutes and happened to land two punches that made some noise for all of a minute and ten seconds against a guy who walks around at like 170lb and had a bum knee...yeah that's almost knocking a guy out. How'd long was juniors therapy session for his orbital lobe? How many doctors appointment did junior need to get it fully healed? All for an almost knock out.....

He's clearly not bragging about it; he's merely making a distinction and offering an explanation. Martinez was absolutely whooping Chavez Jr. But then the 11th and 12th round happen, and frankly, that cast a huge shadow over Martinez' otherwise dominant performance.

just like freddie said chavez jr effectivly ended "maravillas" career if carl froch ever is fool enough to step into the ring with julio the same thing will happen to him

It only cast a shadow for Junior's fans because that is all they have to cling onto.

I will grant that I thought Martinez, who I like, looked rather...ordinary...against Murray but, again, he WAS dealing with a man much naturally larger than Miguel.

It comes down to rounds in the bank for Cotto, which really comes down to Sergio's mobility and stamina - a.k.a. what he has left in the tank.

I agree, the Martinez who fought Murray probably won't breeze through Cotto, but the Cotto who had problems with the bigger punchers he's faced isn't going to love Sergio's pop, either....
Bigger punchers? Hell a 150lb Mayweather had him holding on in the 12th. I shutter to think of what Marvella could do to him!

He trained as hard as he could but Jr is a no talent tomato can who should be fighting at Cruiser weight, he didn't almost ko anyone and was easily beaten.
