Comments Thread For: Canelo Will Only Fight Pacquiao at 154, No Catch-Weight

Last week BoxingScene reported that Manny Pacquiao’s adviser Michael Koncz said Pacquiao is looking at Mexican superstar Saul “Canelo” Alvarez as a possible opponent next year provided they can come to an agreement on an acceptable catch weight.

Pacquiao currently resides in the Welterweight division while Canelo campaigns 7 pounds north at Junior Middleweight.

Pacquiao has made a venture into the Junior Middleweight division once before when he fought Antonio Margarito but the fight was contracted at a catch weight of 150 lbs. Manny also used a catch weight against Miguel Cotto back in 2009 and they plan to strike a similar deal with Alvarez in order to make the fight happen. [Click Here To Read More]

I think Canelo learned his lesson about weakening himself for an opponent 152 left him as a dead man walking into the ring

I don't think Roach or Arum want any part of Canelo at 154. This isn't zombie ODL or Margacheato without his illegal plaster wraps we are talking about here....

Indeed Mannys skills can't overcome the size of a real JMW. He has no business up there.

Good! These catchweight fights are getting old.

If it's the same Canelo that fought Floyd then Pacquiao would beat him.. Just sayin... But it won't be an easy fight for PAC.. Canelo punches hard.. If he lands clean it nap time again for Pac.. Other than Canelo landing that shot PAC wins...

Right. He was so drained that he rehydrated up about 15lbs before entering the ring.

Canelos last 3 fights were at catchweights so wtf is he talking about

He would be the B-Side and wouldn't get to call the shots anyways

And Pacquiao would beat his ass at any weight

I think that's fair enough from Canelo. He weakened himself for the floyd fight and has learned his lesson now.

Manny will have to look elsewhere.

The Nelo that fought Floyd would decapitate Manny.
