Why do so many people hate on Bob Arum?

I dont think they hate em, they are envious of him.

He been there done that and when they tried to shut em down (GBP/TMT refusal to do buisness with him) he kept thriving. Not that many in this promotional buisness would have survived that freeze they put on him and his company.

Bob is smarmy and has an old school style of running his business. He is willing to put guys in tough fights that they can lose. He does this in order to build up future match ups or acquire new opportunities for the fighter to maximize their (and his) lifetime earning potential. Ultimately it's up to the fighter to win and continue to make money.

This new generation of fighters/managers hate the idea of tough fights for lower pay. This "lower pay" is still more than 90% of fighters in other combat sports, but the idea of a loss is too much for them and their pride. We can thank Floyd's TMT promotions for popularizing the new school of thought where any loss is perceived as a serious blow to an individual's market value. Therefore minimizing risk is seen as the most important aspect to a talented fighter's career. They don't realize how badly this damages the sport due to the mismatches and the fear of losing their status, crippling their gross income in the long term up to and including their careers after boxing. Fans are left unsatisfied as the buildup drama to the fight is more entertaining than the fights themselves.

Thus, I prefer the devil I know in Bob Arum than this new wave of promotional companies who are looking to sell fight based on perceived drama outside of the ring rather than the action taking place inside the ring.

Dude are you high? Is that what you think it is. People are envious? Are you insane? The consensus in the sport is that most can't wait for him to die sadly.

Its ****ed up but thats what they think.

Just like Floyd, the two are truly bad for the business of boxing. The both are destroying the sports integrity and at the same time making millions.

I am a fan of Floyd as a Boxer but as a promoter, he and Arum are the same... Two new Don Kings

A lot of opinions but not much solid fact based reasoning.
