Pretty sure Sergio's got a fight deal with HBO, and even if he didn't I wouldn't want to see it if it didn't happen at 160. He didn't fight Canelo at 154 because he balloons up to 172, Does Sergio come in heavier than that? I'm sure he does, i'm not interested in Welters vs Light Heavy Weights.

Depends on how Sergio looks against Cotto.

If he absolutely decimates him and looks like the Martinez from a few years back that annihilated Paul Williams - Not a chance.

If his knee blows apart again and he struggles to win a gift decision with another torn shoulder muscle or broken hand - Book it.

Top Rank has stolen money from him and has been known to do the same to many of their fighters, not to mention Arum is just a snake who's catch phrase is " I was lying yesterday, but today I'm telling the truth". GBP was not built by DLH, but it was built by Scheaffer, and we all know that. DLH was and has always been the figure head and nothing more. Apparently during one of his many drug induced binges he was staring in front of the mirror trying to decide which color fishnets to put on that day, and the thought of actually running the company came to mind. So he decided to stab the person who built the company in the back. So I can't say I'd blame anyone for not wanting a drugged out back stabber to be in charge of promoting their fights anymore. Now we have never heard any negative things about Dibella, so a fight with Martinez might be the best way to go. I have always thought they would fight eventually anyways.
All jokes aside, even though Arum is a snake and DLH is a junkie, they own the most powerful promotional companies, and without either of them Mayweathers options are very slim. As of now he is limited to the Cotto vs Martinez winner. being that Martinez is with Dibella and Cotto is a promotional free agent.

I actually think this fight has a chance at getting made if Martinez beats Cotto. Mayweather vs. Martinez for the MW title at a catchweight of 158 or so at the Barkley's Center in Brooklyn would be a huge fight and event that would give Boxing the Megafight of the year and be a great legacy fight for Floyd and career payday for Sergio.

Put Matthysee vs. Garcia on the undercard again and do a promotional tour and you have a 1.5 million unit PPV success also. This is why I'm hoping Sergio beats Cotto. May vs. Cotto again; even at 160 doesn't do a whole lot for me, unless Cotto KO's Sergio and looks spectacular.

I'm not sure where this theory comes from. When was the last time we saw Floyd fight someone coming off of a loss, or off of a life and death battle where they looked pretty bad while winning? If my memory serves me correctly the last fighter coming off of a loss that Floyd faced was Zab. And he was still a champion at WW.

Nope. If he beats Cotto, Floyd gets scared.

If he loses to Cotto, he's no longer the 160 champ.

                No fight. Ever.

Don't really see any scenario where Martinez beats Floyd. He just a vastly superior fighter on every level. Mayweather 117-111.

And if Floyd fights him and kicks his ass like I think he can. Martinez will be back to being old and shot right after Floyds hand raised.

He cant win with you people so why bother **** Martinez.

That's probably the most realistic outlook on the "Mayweather vs Martinez bout. Though, I wouldn't say Mayweather is "scared" - I have more respect for the fighter than the recycled "scared" argument.

That being said. Martinez vs Cotto will indicate, for certain, the health and condition of his knee. I believe Martinez will win convincingly, should his knee hold up.

If the fight was ever to be made with Mayweather, I would imagine Mayweather terms and consessions will be the winner of the fight. Not Mayweather. He's the boss - unfortunately. In a perfect world where Martinez knee is healthy and the fight is at a legit weight like 154 or more? Martinez beats Mayweather.
