Neither of them have that x factor to push em over the edge.

It's irrelevant because you have Floyd, who is a part time 154 lber as the champ. The division doesn't really make much sense at all. Canelo can barely even make weight - he's a damn MW. Wtf? Division reeks.
You made some good points but you're a little bit too harsh. How many fighters are, or at least appear to be, head and shoulders above the rest in their divisions right now? Wlad, Floyd, Ward, Rigo.

Canelo and Lara may not be elite but they are very good boxers. They both looked excellent in their last fight and few would argue that Canelo-Lara is a fight between two Top 3 at 154 and therefore a very meaningful bout. Floyd fights at 147 (and he beat Canelo at 152 anyway) so the winner of this fight will be regarded, and rightfully so, as the best fighter in the division whether he's elite or not.

I like this fight because it brings out the best of both warriors Canelo and Lara.

Canelo should be proud for having taken on such a tough feat. (-:

It was already a can't miss fight

But now with the extra storylines involving the gbp, Schafer, haymon, it has turned into a mega event for me at least...

Oscar cannot afford to have canelo undressed ala rigo-donaire,, not saying that happens, but if it does, it's a horrible scenario for oscar

If Canelo gets undressed than Arum won't work with him; that's the only piece he has that's worth anything.

Without all the politics it was the biggest fight of the year.

I agree for the most part, but you're being too harsh.

All those guys you mentioned are top fighters and for the most part very difficult to look good against. Now your probably right that neither guys is going to be great but they're still very good fighters and at the very least one guy has the opportunity to come out on top and show he's head and shoulders above the other. There's only a few fighters today who you can honestly say are clearly superior to any of these guys talent wise. IMO your just being too demanding at least in these current conditions where we rarely see two top guys squaring off.

It also seems unfair to nitpick a division when basically the whole state of boxing is in the same position where most divisions have multiple belts but no real champ.
I see it more this way. Dominant champions are the exception, not the norm. I think it's unfair to he overly critical of a top fighter just because he's not another Floyd or Wlad.
