Herrera diaster??? How about Maidana almost getting KO'ed in the FIRST round by Amir Khan and Maidana losing 11 out of 12 rounds to Devon Alexander.

Not to mention Josesito Lopez was close to stopping Maidana.

At WW Maidana only lost to Alexander in his debut on that weight and beat Lopez, Karass and Broner. Atleast he had won 3 WW fights in a row

Garcia was a credible contender for Floyd but he still has to fight at the WW limit and they way that Herrera handled him puts a lot of doubt if he would be competitive.

Why does everyone hate on Floyd, Danny Garcia is the lineal 140 Champ. Floyd is fighting the guys who are Champs. Everyone is just upset the Manny Vs Floyd fight is not happening. Get over it guys. I think its a mismatch but the Guy is fighting guys that are champions or suppose to be the next best thing ie Canelo.

i also don't know why all the hate on danny garcia. he convincingly ko'd khan (who some people are promoting as having chance "with his spped and length" against floyd; the same speed and length that garcia ko'd!) and went on to convincingly beat the guy he was supposedly "too scared to even fight", matthysse!

i agree that garcia probably is not ready to face floyd at this point in time. whether he would ever "be ready" is moot. however he IS a unified 140lb champ so, if he wanted to step up now and take a shot then his credentials are as good as any and better than most.

He didn't make $3 mill for that fight. I can't find an article that cites exactly how much he made but most seem to say in the 1.5-2 mil range. I remember when they were negotiating the fight Garcia was saying if it's a big fight he should get big money but when the interviewer brought up the $3mil rumor and he laughed about it, saying he isn't asking that much. Rafael wrote an article (or said in his chat) the purses, I don't remember the exact number but I recall it being less than 2mil. I'd say he probably makes around $3-3.5mill for Mayweather if they fight. Only Cotto and Canelo have made more than that against Mayweather but they both did bigger numbers than I think Garcia would do

Sources with sources close to the situation reported that a source said another source had knowledge of a source that Floyd v Garcia will be signed soon for Sept 13th.

I'm not sold on this rumor. I saw a recent interview with Danny and Angel and they both said at least 1 more fight at 140 and the date is either July 26th or August 2nd. Unless they're just lying (which I guess is possible), it wouldn't make sense they are also negotiating this fight. It's too much to lose in a Mayweather fight in the event Danny loses or gets hurt or cut and even he none of that happens, the dates are too close.

I guess I'm part of the 5% that likes the fight if it happens . I don't think Garcia stands much of a chance but he's #1 at 140 and earned his shot.

I know Angel said he'd keep it respectful if His son fought Mayweather but hope he doesn't and goes off.

I don't think this fight will happen. If it does it's a crap fight.

And let me set the record straight: it's a crap fight for Floyd and Manny. Danny gets busted up by both.

I second this. I don't think Danny is ready and I'm not even sure he ever will be. He got beat by a much lesser fighter this year already.
