UNCASVILLE, CT -- In the main event at the Mohegan Sun Casino in Connecticut, world-rated contender Henry Lundy took another step towards a long awaited world title shot by stopping the son of legendary Hall of Famer Pipino Cuevas, Gerardo Pipino Cuevas, Jr., at 2:23 of the second round.

Lundy, 138 lbs., Philadelphia, PA, stalked Cuevas, 138 ½ lbs., Mexico City, Mexico, from the opening bell and never let him get comfortable. The win brings Lundy’s record to 25-3-1, 12 KO’s, while Cuevas falls to 17-12, 15 KO’s.

“I am ready for anyone,” said Lundy. “135 is where I want to be but if I have to go up to 140 or even 147, I don’t care, I want a world title belt around my waist.” [Click Here To Read More]

Lundy is ready for anybody at 135, 140? Off of this win? Cuevas should not be allowed to fight anymore. How he is allowed to fight, especially at this level (C, B-), is beyond me.. Lundy really likes them ripe.

True. Some boxers believe that defeating a son of a HOF automatically make them great. Cuevas Jr. is now 34 yr old and he has lost 10 of his last 14 fights (4 of his last 5) and those few fights won were with guys with 3 or 4 pro fights. This reminds me a boxer called Jason Velez who defeated a mediocre nephew of the great HOF Salvador Sanchez and Velez stated that he felt that Wilfredo Gomez was finally avenged because Jason defeated the limited relative of Sanchez. Some boxers are really dumb.

Lundy is utter garbage, he's the upcoming gatekeeper for the 140lbs division after Chop Chop.

I wouldn't mind seeing a rematch with John Molina. The first fight was entertaining, do it again.

I like Lundy, I think he can cause some serious problems to anyone at 140. I'm not sure about 147 though...
