    Groves glass chin?

Always amusing to see these kinda comments.

People are now saying he has a glass chin because he was caught cold by a devastating punch that would have killed the average man.

He was immobile for a few seconds but started to get up. Don't get me wrong he was absolutely in no fit state to continue but showed tremendous heart to try and fight to his feet. Some would have gone out on a stretcher after a shot like that.

The referee IS justified in waving it off if they drop like a stone and lay like a statue for a few seconds. Pacquaio ko'ing Hatton and Marquez ko'ing Pacquaio.

Think some of you guys want fights to the death.

Good fight. Close tactical fight. I had Groves up by a few rounds. Jim Watt is clueless at scoring a fight.

KO was sick. Don't like him but deserved winner Froch.

But my point is glass and granite jaw are a myth. Being ko'd and knocked down is simple science and can happen to any human being. Even Froch. He has been put down twice by less devastating punches than the one he hit Groves with last night. But everyone says he has a great chin.

Groves gets heavily dropped by a ATG punch and automatically means he has a glass jaw.

    Lol

Froch looked like a light heavyweight in there. He has really filled up in that weight and seemed solid and stabilized in his position knowing he was the stronger fighter. That punch Froch landed probably would have knocked out most light heavyweights. I think Froch is big enough for light heavyweight. After all, he did beat Pascal and he is just as big as Kovalev physically.

He doesn't have a glass chin. But not iron.

          What is an iron chin?

          An iron chin means:

          1. You can take a big punch without being stunned or knocked down.

          2. Get knocked down but get up and recover quick and keep fighting like a warrior.

A lot of people on these forums think that if someone gets hurt they have a glass chin. This is far from the truth. It is how well they can take a shot and recover.

Carl Froch is someone who meets this criteria.

No it can't happen to any human being. Go watch guys like Hector Camacho, James Toney or Oliver McCall they've taken several shots bigger than the one Groves took and barely flinch.

I was told first hand a few years ago that Groves doesn't take a punch well. That's before you get to Froch's punch last night, which would have knocked out a horse.

Froch proved before that he doesn't hold a one-punch KO power -- that is why he barely threw straight rights... The ugly kid also knew it -- that is why he looked so confident at Froch's right hand just before the KO... He expected another hooky right from Froch... Then, the unprecedented eventually happened: Froch simulated a left hook, cut the space and threw the straight right onto Grove's jaw. So simple.

That means nothing. Just because on occasion they took good shots doesn't mean they were impossible to knock out. Which is what you're implying.

My point is every human being has a limit where if they take a big enough punch they are getting knocked out.
