Comments Thread For: Sam Soliman Targets Unification With Gennady Golovkin

New IBF middleweight boxing world champion Sam Soliman wants a unification bout with Gennady Golovkin, but he might have to join two other Australians in the queue after extracting payback from Felix Sturm.

After a 17-year professional career, the 40-year-old Melburnian finally climbed to the sport's summit in Krefeld, Germany on Saturday with a unanimous points decision win over Sturm.

American judges John Poturaj and Don Trella both scored it 118-110 while their Polish colleague Miroslaw Brozio had Soliman winning 117-111.

funny how there was a glove dispute for the first fight between soliman and sturm but no one likes to comment about that glove controversy, but when Floyd has an issue with gloves, he's a p*ssy and coward smfh

A middleweight with a belt actually wants to fight Golovkin? I´m so happy I could cry. Doesn´t mean the fight will actually happen though.

Golovkin should just set up shop down-under I'm sure he could become a real fan fav even by beating up the local boxers.

Geale-Soliman-Fletcher line'em up knock'em out all in this calendar year.

Sturm is a joke. Martin murray and mathew macklin must be pissing themselves. Soliman became world champion before them loooooooooooooool.

wouldn't there be just as much/more money for Soliman to have a domestic clash with Geale?

Sturm was never a joke. He is an old man now so he definitely isn't the same person he was ten years ago. I would rather see STurm fight GGG than Soliman but either guy would be a good test for him. Style wise Sturm is a tougher fight Soliman is a smaller man I believe.

Wow, Soliman still around? I remember him being a contender when Jermain Taylor was champ, also didn't feel at the time he had a chance if he got the fight. Maybe he improved, haven't seen him in forever, or mw is very weak at the moment.

Would like to see this fight,, Solimon is a tricky fighter and now has a belt,, would be a decent fight for GGG...

GGG vs geale in july, and then solimon in the fall, and serg early next year.....
