Comments Thread For: Groves: I Let Carl Froch Into Range and Paid The Price

Carl Froch settled his rivalry with George Groves in brutal fashion as he knocked his bitter enemy out cold with a crunching right hand in the eight round of their record-breaking Wembley Stadium rematch.

Groves blamed a moment of complacency on being caught by the knockout blow. "I felt I was ahead on the scorecards and I was in my groove, but I think complacency let me down," he said at the news conference.

"Carl Froch is a seasoned world champion and there's no quit in him. I was boxing very well but I let complacency creep in and that needs to be eliminated.

Groves felt he was winning, yet was behind on the judges cards? I don't see how Groves felt complacent considering he said he would ko Froch in the 5th round, shouldn't he have been in panick mode the fact that Froch was still standing after 5 rounds?

But Groves may be deluding himself, he just didn't have the chin, like Froch said, and may not have what it takes to be champ, like Froch said after the first fight.
But Froch may have paid pleasantries to Groves in the ring after ko'ing him, with kind words saying you will be champ one day you gave me a good fight but that is just being polite and showing he has no malice.

It was a great shot. Groves might acknowledge that one day.

Groves was definitely behind on the scorecards, if he thought he was ahead, he needs to rewatch the fight till it sinks in.

Right. He "let" Froch into range. His "complacency" allowed him to get knocked out.

He's obviously giving Froch his proper due.
