If you read the link doktor posted above, you'll see there wasn't a great deal of money on the table. It's a mythical notion that every foreign fighter can get a great multi-fight deal in the States. It's only now they're realising foreign fighters can be more exciting and marketable than home grown fighters.
Well that, becoming a multiple world champion and almost breaking the record for middleweight title defenses.
I see the same stuff posted about Chris John, he fought in US too at one time and had to do it twice because they didn't give it to him. The one guy who bothered going to fight the champ in Indonesia couldn't beat him clearly and whined about it (and every other decision he lost) ever since. C'est la vie.
His only claim to fame is getting a raw deal vs Oscar, but he has used it to justify not fighting elite fighters.
