Comments Thread For: Team Verdejo Open To Valdez Clash, But Not Pedraza

Ricky Marquez, trainer and manager of undefeated lightweight Felix 'Diamante' Verdejo (12-0, 9 KO's), did not rule out a future brawl with Mexic's Oscar Valdez (11-0, 11 KO's), who competes in the super featherweight division and holds the NABF championship.

"That's a possibility. All fighters who are at or near our weight can be [possibilities] and especially if they are with the same company, Top Rank. That would make things easier. We know he's a good fighter and he is also being developed. Someday we would like to have the opportunity to fight with him," he said.

It's about respect boxing is also competition between countries so why fight each other when you can beat other fighters from different countries and help your country have multiple champions the best pr fighters fighting each other is rare

Now this is the fight I dream of down the road right here. Big fan of both, also feel that both have the "goods" to be the next big attractions of the sport.Love seeing 2 young true Latinos with so much potential move up threw the ranks. Could this be the next Sanchez vs Gomez or Tito vs Vargas. Could be

Why bandy names around if you don't plan to fight them. Verdejo is green, still being spoon fed, and there is nothing wrong with that, but he isn't getting near anybody with a serious winning record, not yet. It's smart to move up a little at a time and Verdejo should move accordingly. Don't try a giant leap after fighting a lot of no hopers. Pedraza is real, he's been here, HERE, in L.A. with live competition, not in P.R. (his home) on the road.

Respect is keeping your mouth off of people. It's like saying he doesn't want to beat Pedrazza, not that he can't. I don't care if they are next door neighbors, that's talking trash.

Valdez/ Verdejo has the potential to be a great fight if these two prospects continue down the right path.

I agree 100%. Its like when we had Cotto brutalize Carlos Quintana when they were both undefeated. I was thinking that it was not the right move at the time...not to mention that Quintana was the favorite by a large margin as well.
